The Valleyfield Catholic Cemetery, located in the Sainte-Cécile parish, is managed by an entity independent of the parishes, the Corporation du cimetière catholique de Valleyfield.

With over 4,500 monuments and more than 30,000 graves, it is by far the largest cemetery in the region. The cemetery features a Way of the Cross and an outdoor altar used during the annual pilgrimage to the cemetery.
Large, mature trees spread throughout the cemetery add to its charm.

The cemetery serves the current parishes of Sainte-Cécile and Immaculée-Conception de Bellerive, including the former parishes of Saint-Pie X, Saint-Esprit, Saint-Augustin, Saint-Eugène, Sacré-Coeur-de-Jésus and Saint-Joseph-Artisan.

The present cemetery, located at the east end of Salaberry Street near the intersection with Victoria Street East, was opened in 1884 as the 3rd cemetery of Sainte-Cécile parish. It was the successor to the first Sainte-Cécile cemetery, which was located on the current parking lot behind the Cathedral Basilica, and to the second Sainte-Cécile cemetery, which was located on the current site of the CÉGEP de Valleyfield. The burials from these two cemeteries were moved to the present cemetery in the summer of 1894 to allow for the construction of the college.

Please do not contact Sainte-Cécile or Immaculée-Conception parishes in Bellerive for your cemetery-related questions or requests.
